Are you one of those people who are an avid learner? Do you do a whole bunch of research before you take action? Or are you one of those people who wants results and doesn’t have time to learn about the science? In this episode, I talk about the importance of understanding how your body works. I discuss how things from your history affect your progress. I share that hormones, stress, and metabolism are all interconnected. While not everybody loves to learn the science, some basic conceptual ideas can go a long way to developing a big-picture view of your health. Knowledge is essential when you’re in this for sustainable weight loss long after whatever program or coaching program is over. You want to be able to achieve lasting results. Understanding the adaptive nature of metabolism and how the various stressors your body has gone through play a role is going to help you navigate your weight loss journey. It is especially important in shedding some light on why you may or may not be able to tune into your body’s signals. It’s not always just about developing an awareness – but about understanding how hormones are affected by metabolism and vice versa and how they may or may not dampen your signals. I leave you with some tactical steps you can take even if you’re not ready to dive deeper into understanding the science behind metabolism.
